Darwin Deez is an indie-pop artist that is know for his own “happy songs for sad people.” He’s a good mix of sunshine pop and indie-ness with fun, sometimes off-beat rhythms.

This is the first song I heard by them. It’s also a pretty well known. It perfectly describes how I feel/my mood sometimes. It’s great live too, so be sure to check it out!

This is one of the best poem slams I’ve ever heard before. It changed my views on the present age. It’s completely true, sadly. It perfectly explains the 21st century on this technologically dependant planet. I really hope you watch this video, and enjoy it like I do.

How Das Racist got their name:

One of the Mcs Himanshu Suri (aka Heems) stated in an interview:

“I think being minorities at a liberal arts college and that type of environment had an impact on both the way we view race and our sense of humor, which people often use as a tool to deal with race. I always felt like Wonder Showzen was a television show that captured that type of thing perfectly. When I saw the little kid yelling “THAT’S RACIST” it blew my mind. And then it became a game…to take all the seriousness out of making legitimate commentary on race, because that can get very annoying. So when something veering on racially insensitive would pop off in a commercial on television or something it would be like, who could yell “That’s Racist” first. And then we thought it would be a cool name. Das EFX may have been an inspiration.”

This is the first song i heard by them, and it’s one of my favorite. My favorite lines are at the end; “I’m intelligence in the age of the internet, where you’re as smart as how quickly you can use your smart phone; I’m complex.”

Band of the Week (Apr. 15-22)

And the band of the week is…..(drum roll) Das Racist. They are a indie hip-hop group based in Brooklyn, New York City. They brought a new voice to the New York underground hip hop scene with their unorthodox style, impressive references, and their joking aspect. By the way, I really apologize about it taking so long, I accidentally posted this on my other blog .

Ideas anyone?

I’ll start by saying that I won’t run out of ideas for this blog anytime soon, so hopefully things won’t get redundant or boring. But, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, by all means, feel free to let me know.
